Just a few reasons why you should go that I have picked up
from experience and other peoples experiences and eavesdropping on other people talking
about their Fashion Week experiences…
1/ It’s Free
It doesn't cost anything to go to a Fashion Week so why not!
Obviously most of us will be bulking up our wardrobes with new buys especially
for LFW, but essentially, this is a free event. You don’t pay for entry or shows
or soaking up that fabulous atmosphere- great!
2/ There Are Freebies
Continuing on seamlessly from point one; there are plenty of
freebies to keep you going. Vitamin water is always in abundance (even though
it’s actch calorie packed, a fact I learned too late), there are snacks
(usually healthy fashion people friendly ones), makeovers and free products.
New Look will have a Refuel Room where you can get a pedicure and drinks. Just
keep your ear to the ground and you can have a great time without spending a penny.
3/ Goodie bags
Goodie bags always get me all hot and bothered- it’s GOODIES!
In a bag (hopefully a nice tote you can reuse)! You may not get them at all the
shows and they can vary wildly, but hey- they’re free. Sometimes only FROWers
will get them but I know someone who stole Kanye West’s from a Mark Fast show.
The FROWers typically leave their goodie bags as they’re ,like, sooo important.
All the better for you- Nab those bags!
4/ Networking
There’s not many times or places that you are GUARANTEED to
meet, not only, like-minded people but your actual heroes (unless you’re a
fanatical horticulture fan, this is mainly fashion peeps). Now, obviously don’t
run over to the editor of your favourite magazine like a maniac, but you could
perhaps find a moment to politely ask them if you could email them sometime for
advice or if they have any jobs/internships at their mag. Oh and it’s totally
fine to ask for a photo with Paloma Faith/Lana Del Ray/A.N.Other celeb…
5/ Celeb-Spotting
There will be celebrities there. Some people pretend that
this doesn't matter and is ‘oh-so beneath them’, but I will not lie. I have
been an avid reader of Heat mag for probably the past decade and I loooove a
bit of celeb spotting. It’s fun! I have a celeb spot wishlist for this year
consisting of; Harry Styles (or any of One Direction), a Geldof (any), Rihanna
(I’m going to her show YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!) and Rylan off X Factor. Last year I saw Jodie Harsh stumble on the cobbles- My life was made.
